Why commission art?

Have you ever looked a work of art and thought, “Wow, that’s amazing! I really like that piece of art.”? If so, rest assured that you are not alone. You are also not alone if you’ve thought, “ I would really like to have that piece, but I have no place in my home for it.” Other thoughts may be about where the artist’s ideas come from, curiosity about how the piece conceived or made, or concern about the price. Commissioning a work of art from the artist may enable you to address any or all of these thoughts.

Commissioning an artist allows one to address many or the desires or concerns people often have about buying original artwork. An artist commission enables you have input on aspects of the work such as size, colors, or theme of the art so that it fits into your home. Commissioning also provides an opportunity to understand the artist’s process, where ideas come from, how the artist works. You are also able to set budget parameters for the artwork when commissioning an artist. The best part is that you will own a specially created work of art, and will also have supported a working artist.

Next week we will talk about how artwork is commissioned. In the meantime, if you are interested in any of the artworks on my site, want to commission a work, or just wish to contact me, you can reach out at edd@glasschisel.com.
