Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter
A tree is often used as a symbol to convey Eternal Life. Life unending and life after death offer two ways of thinking about the Tree of Life. And yet life as we experience it is cyclical; time flows in a linear fashion, the seasons pass one after the other – “the circle of life.” When thought of in this fashion, we begin with spring, “birth,” and end with winter, “death.” Yet a circle has no beginning or end point – life, death, rebirth – each as important as the other. When viewed in this manner, there is no defined beginning or end. Each of the pieces can be used to “begin” the cycle as they flow from one season to the next.
